2009 blev ett starkt spelår i både öst och väst, trots farhågor om motsatsen. Tar vi en titt på den totala spelförsäljningen i Sverige får vi i vanlig ordning inga siffror utan får nöja oss med att se de inbördes placeringarna.
Vi kan se att Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 tillhör årets riktigt stora vinnare, trots att det släpptes så sent på året. Detsamma kan sägas om New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Assassin’s Creed II har gått riktigt bra och det pratas om en tredje del redan under 2010. Money talks.
2009 kan också vara året då försäljningen av PlayStation 2 slutligen började trappas av betänkligt. Under hela året har det i princip bara varit en rad olika Singstar-versioner som sålt till formatet och föga förvånande är just Singstar ABBA det enda spel som letar sig in på topp 20, trots den stora mängd människor där ute som sitter med en PlayStation 2 hemma. Noterbart är också att Halo 3: ODST inte lyckades bli topp 20 i Sverige och att Resident Evil 5, som släpptes i mars, faktiskt inte heller når en topp 20-placering.
